THE DEDICATION CEREMONY OF "DUC DE LAUZUN and THE BATTLE OF THE HOOK" "THE SIEGE OF GLOUCESTER POINT, 1781" Two Interpretive Markers
The American Society of Le Souvenir Français, Inc. will proudly unveil two interpretive markers on Wednesday, October 18th at Abingdon Elementary School, for the enlightenment and enjoyment of the thousands of tourists who visit one of America's most famous battlegrounds, the site of the allied 1781 French-American victory, in cooperation with the County of Gloucester, VA, the National Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route Association, Inc. and the National Park Service.
The Battle of the Hook has often been ignored, yet it is one of the most important episode of the siege of Yorktown. These interpretive markers are the latest addition to a series of markers, sculptures, and memorials interpreting Yorktown's battlefield and its surroundings.
