Flat Iron Crossroads- An Intersection For Performing Artists & Art Aficionados
Here in Gloucester, Virginia we have a way of seeing the possibilities in things & places that some may think have run their course. Flat Iron Crossroads was once the site of a 100-year-old gas station that has been rejuvenate into a truly spectacular music venue. Located on Flat Iron Road across from the award winning Brent & Becky’s Bulbs, Flat Iron is surrounded by the beauty that exists in the Ware Neck area of the county.
The Flat Iron name comes from the idea that this location is the intersection for performing artists & art enthusiasts. Those attending concerts here can feel that purpose the second they walk in the door. There is a certain small-town with big dreams feel in the atmosphere. Music genres that can be heard at this venue range from classical to rock-n-roll, from 80s throwbacks to todays hits we all can sing along to & everything in between.
Flat Iron Crossroads is a non-profit organization and relies on amazing volunteers to help put on events for the community.
During our tour we were intrigued by all the small details that were added to this one of kind venue. The inside space allows for a large audience, a bar, restrooms, and a lovely green room for the bands. In the early years of this location, friends would meet up just to play and relax on the weekends. They built a stage that is still the one that top artists perform on today. On the walls you will find what looks like large pieces of artwork but are actually acoustic panels that help keep the sound crystal clear. There is so much character and uniqueness to Flat Iron Crossroads.
On those nice summer nights its great that they have an 800 square foot outdoor stage that overlooks a large lawn. This area is perfect for larger events. During an event there are food trucks, great beer and enough space for the whole family to come and enjoy the sounds of the season.
