Celebrating the Incredible Success of Spring Clean Gloucester Day 2025!
Gloucester County’s spirit of community pride and environmental stewardship was on full display during this year’s Spring Clean Gloucester Day, held March 28th and 29th. Volunteers of all ages came together to make a tangible difference — and the results were nothing short of amazing!
Thanks to the outstanding effort of our community:
6 tons of trash were collected
54 locations throughout the county were cleaned
420 bags of trash were filled
658 volunteer hours were logged
A whopping 12,715 pounds of trash were removed from our beautiful landscapes!
This year’s Spring Clean event was a true testament to what we can accomplish when we work together. Volunteers rolled up their sleeves and tackled trash and debris with determination and heart. Roadsides, parks, waterways, and neighborhoods now shine a little brighter because of their hard work.
A community that prioritizes litter pickup and, even more importantly, litter prevention creates a ripple effect of positive impacts — not only on the environment, but also on public health, local pride, and economic vitality. Clean streets, parks, and waterways enhance the beauty of our community, attract visitors, boost property values, and foster a stronger sense of belonging and respect among residents. When people see a well-maintained environment, they are more likely to take personal responsibility for keeping it that way.
Even more critical than cleaning up after the fact is cultivating a culture of litter prevention. By raising awareness, providing proper disposal options, and promoting education about the impacts of litter, we can address the problem at its root. A community committed to prevention demonstrates foresight, stewardship, and a shared responsibility for future generations. Every small act — choosing to dispose of trash properly, recycling, or organizing a clean-up — adds up to a larger movement that protects our natural resources and strengthens the very fabric of our community.
We would be remiss if we didn’t take a moment to recognize the amazing leadership behind this event — Sherry Kosakowski , our dedicated Clean Community Coordinator.
Sherry’s commitment to keeping Gloucester beautiful is unmatched. She organized the entire event from start to finish, ensuring that every volunteer had the supplies they needed, identifying and mapping clean-up locations, and meticulously recording and managing all of the data. Her energy, organization, and passion for the environment made this event a resounding success. We are so lucky to have her at the helm!
Looking Ahead…
While Spring Clean Gloucester Day is a special annual event, the effort to keep our county clean and green continues year-round. Whether it’s participating in organized clean-ups or simply picking up litter when you see it, every action makes a difference.
Thank you again to every volunteer who gave their time, energy, and heart to this year’s cleanup. Together, we are making Gloucester a place we can all be proud to call home!
