Celebrating Student Success with Carnival Tickets

The carnival wasn’t just a hit with the general public—it was also the ultimate reward for local students who went above and beyond this school year! A huge thank you goes to the Abingdon Ruritan Club for purchasing tickets to be given to hardworking students throughout our amazing schools.

At Peasley Middle School, the carnival tickets were this year’s grand prize in their end-of-year raffle. Students had the opportunity to earn raffle tickets throughout the year for acts of kindness, academic achievement, and positive behavior—such as helping classmates, turning in assignments early, excelling on SOL tests, and maintaining strong grades. The chance to win carnival tickets was a major motivator, and when the winners were announced, excitement filled the halls!

At Page Middle School, carnival tickets were awarded to three outstanding students who were inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. This prestigious honor required them to uphold a GPA of 3.5 or higher, complete community service hours, exhibit strong leadership, and earn glowing recommendations from teachers. The tickets were a well-earned celebration of their hard work and dedication.

At Abingdon Elementary, the end-of-year carnival was a blast—and it got even better when top-performing students won carnival tickets in a special raffle. The surprise prize let the fun continue beyond the school grounds, giving kids one more reason to celebrate their success.

It was inspiring to see how the carnival became more than just a community event—it also became a way to reward and recognize our future leaders, encouraging positive behavior and academic excellence in Gloucester’s youth.

As we say goodbye to the lights, laughter, and music of the Gloucester Summer Kick-Off Carnival, we’re already looking ahead to the memories we’ll create next year. Thank you again to everyone who came out, contributed, and helped us kick off the summer in such spectacular fashion. Until next time, Gloucester – thank you for making this carnival one to remember!

If you had fun at the carnival please share your memories with us!
