Services
The Middle Peninsula Local Probation and Pretrial Service Agency provides pre- and post-trial supervision to the Middle Peninsula area. The Middle Peninsula area consists of six counties: Essex, Gloucester, King & Queen, King William, Mathews, Middlesex.
Local Probation
Local Probation provides quality supervision of probationers for the local courts. A risk assessment tool issued to determine the probationer’s risks, needs and the responsivity needed, as well as the level of supervision. Local Probation provides the following referral options and services:
Anger management counseling
Domestic violence counseling
Batterer’s intervention counseling (Gloucester, Mathews, Middlesex)
Substance abuse counseling (education, standard, intervention, and intensive or inpatient)
Mental health counseling
Sex offender counseling
Parenting counseling
Shoplifter’s prevention course
Community service
Monitoring of restitution
Alcohol and drug screening (order as a pretrial bond condition)
Pretrial
Pretrial Services provides background investigation on pretrial defendants who have been arrested and booked into the Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center or the Gloucester County Jail to help the local courts in making a more informed bond decision. Pretrial Services also provides supervision of defendants until their trial date. Risk assessments are conducted on all pretrial defendants to help in determining bail and level of supervision needed. The goal of Pretrial Services is for the defendant to appear in court and not to have any new arrests.
