Collection of Harmful Waste

The average household has between three and ten gallons of materials that are potentially hazardous to human health or the environment. Many products in daily use (cleaners, pesticides, solvents) are toxic in our environment to people and ecosystems when disposed of improperly. Gloucester County and Waste Management provide residents two opportunities annually to safely dispose of these items for no charge. Household Harmful Waste Collections are generally held on the third Saturday of April and October.

The April and October Household Harmful Waste Collection is usually held at the Guinea Convenience Center located at 7599 Guinea Road, Hayes.  Household Harmful Waste collections are typically held between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the designated days. Please verify the dates and times prior to taking harmful waste to the designated location. Email cleancommunity@gloucesterva.info to verify.

If you have a large amount, need it disposed of immediately, and/or the waste is from a business, harmful waste can be disposed of, for a fee, by Veolia North America. Contact them at 804-233-6980, Customer Service Department. They can pick up the materials from you and will provide you with documentation that your material was properly and legally transported and disposed of.
