2024 Green Grants Award Gloucester County Clean Community

We are thrilled to announce that Gloucester Clean Community has been awarded a grant from Keep Virginia Beautiful, aimed at revitalizing the beloved half-pipe at Browns Park. This grant will provide a fresh and enjoyable space for our local skaters and BMX enthusiasts.

Browns Park has long been a cornerstone for outdoor activities and community gatherings in Gloucester. The half-pipe, in particular, has been a popular feature among youth and adults alike, offering a thrilling spot for practicing tricks and enjoying the exhilaration of skateboarding and BMX riding. However, with years of wear and tear, the half-pipe has been in need of a makeover.

The grant from Keep Virginia Beautiful comes as part of their ongoing commitment to support local communities in creating clean, green, and beautiful spaces. This funding will enable us to undertake much-needed cosmetic work to the half-pipe, including new plywood on the standing section and a new bright colored design. The project aims to restore the half-pipe to its former glory, ensuring it can continue to serve as a vibrant hub of activity for years to come.

The grant also allows for a flowerbed with some native plants to attract local pollinators will be added to further beautify the area, as well as planting wildflower seeds around the edge of the park.

The Gloucester Clean Community initiative has always been dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our county through environmental stewardship, education, and community involvement. This project exemplifies our mission by combining elements of recreation, community engagement, and environmental enhancement. By revamping the half-pipe, we are not only improving a physical structure but also fostering a sense of community pride and ownership.

We are looking for young aduly artists who may be interseted in helping us paint our new design!

If this is you please email cleancommunity@gloucesterva.info

We are incredibly grateful to Keep Virginia Beautiful for their support and to our local community members who continuously contribute to our efforts. As we embark on this exciting project, we encourage everyone to stay tuned for updates on the progress and upcoming events related to the half-pipe revamp.

Together, we are making Gloucester cleaner, greener, and more beautiful, one project at a time. - Sherry Kosakowski - Gloucester Clean Community
