2023 State of the County Presentation
County Administrator Carol Steele recaps the County Government’s work from 2023, and looks ahead to potential goals for our organization in 2024. From Animal Control to Zoning, our employees continuously strive to provide exceptional customer service, enhance the quality of life, keep our citizens safe and celebrate the area’s history and natural beauty. We are here to listen to you, and invite you to participate in our programs and processes.
Services
The Board of Supervisors has appointed Carol E. Steele as the County Administrator to lead and direct the daily operations of the County Government. Ms. Steele works alongside six Constitutional Officers and the County Attorney, and supports and is supported by the Deputy County Administrator for Community Development and the Deputy County Administrator for Community Services.
The County Administrator's Office works directly with the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors to carry out the following duties:
To make recommendations to the Board concerning the affairs of the County
To keep the Board apprised of the County's financial condition
To prepare, submit and administer the annual County budget
To preaudit all claims against the County
To manage the County and its various departments on a daily basis
